The Town’s Fall Household Hazardous Waste Day will take place from 8:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. on September 11, 2010 at the Town Highway Department Garage at 6363 French’s Mill Road in Guilderland Center. This event represents an opportunity for Guilderland homeowners to check their basements, sheds, and garages and bring their materials to the event, where it will be unloaded from their vehicles and disposed of in a safe and environmentally appropriate manner.
The materials that can be brought to the event include: pesticides, herbicides,and insecticides; pool and drain chemicals; thinners and solvents; wood stains and preservatives; auto and marine batteries; hobby paints and chemicals; fluorescent tubes; oil and latex paints; gasoline and kerosene; propane tanks; automotive fluids; and double-bagged asbestos.
You will not be able to dispose of: commercial waste of any kind; medical waste; explosives (including fireworks); radioactive or toxic materials; and compressed gases. Participation in the Household Hazardous Waste Day event requires the presentation of a pass that is available without charge upon presentation of a current vehicle registration or other evidence of residency during regular business hours at either the Town Transfer Station or at the Town Clerk’s Office in Town Hall.
